When pairing wardrobe pieces together to complete an outfit, the advice I would give to any of my clients, is that it’s critical to always look at it as an aesthetic visual experience. Emotion around the process is what it’s all about. When you feel your best, people will stop you without question, and comment about how much they love what you are wearing. The approach and direction you take are key. Think about the following:
What’s the intention and what do you want to depict? Is it a fancy dinner with Friends or a romantic date? if you are going to a friend’s backyard barbeque, you don’t want to overdo it but you still want to look cute, chic and comfortably casual.
Be deliberate with your color picks. What color frame of mind are you in? Black, bold and sexy or bright, light and airy...?
Combining textures can be an interesting way to go. What about mixing a solid patterned cozy knit sweater with a leather jacket and a smooth fabric pant or skirt bottom...?
What’s the interest? What’s the style technique? Do you want to use patterns, prints, keep it simple or make an eye-catching statement...? Maybe you want to wear a pair of jeans, a blazer, some sneakers and add a graphic T-shirt...There are many options.
Finally, is the look balanced? This could be subjective, but it’s important to consider. Whether it’s an extreme showpiece or subtle look you are trying to accomplish, tie it all together in an effortless and chic way. Remember to always be intentional, think of the above, and you will end up achieving a fabulous look!
